Guest Blog: How to Manage a Successful SAP BusinessObjects BI 4.3 Project Upgrade

Celebrating 100 years, Citizen Watches is a pioneer in watchmaking and innovative technology that promotes excellence and creativity with a deep-rooted respect for craftsmanship.
Citizen Watches decided to move from SAP Crystal Server to SAP BusinessObjects Edge as a solution to satisfy all of our Business Intelligence and reporting needs.
The project has taken us six months and is now nearing completion. It is now being utilised by the business who are benefiting from a central repository of trusted data rather than pulling it from several disparate sources.
Our key driver was to have a true central source of data for reporting and improved analytics based upon our new Data Warehouse and Sales and Inventory Universe.
From our perspective, to have achieved such a successful project outcome, it was important that we had the following in place:
1. A Clear Statement of Vision: Including business requirements, benefits and risks, that had been defined and agreed by all parties concerned from senior management to the end user.
2. A Great Team: Working together with clear and consistent communication.
3. A Good Project Management Structure: Being careful not to overkill here, we needed processes and documentation in place for managing and delivering a successful project.
Finally, we chose DSCallards as our partner of choice. Working with them was great. They are very knowledgeable and easy to get along with. All of the key ingredients for a business win!
